New Year's Resolutions

From Luke 2v14-20, responding to the Christmas message of peace on earth:

1) Make time for Christ v15-16

We make resolutions for more time with family, hobbies, exercise - what of time to nurture our love of Christ?

2) Speak about Christ v17

The shepherds were uneducated. How much more should we be able to speak. Why not pray for one person to say something to about your faith this New Year.

3) Think about Christ v19
We cut down on TV perhaps because of its influence, or on food because it is bad for us. How much better to then give more to pondering and feeding on the truth about Jesus in scripture.

4) Rejoice in Christ v20
Many are low after Christmas. It was not what they hoped, or the New Year reminds them they are in a difficult job, or face a hard year. Raise your spirits then by rejoicing in Jesus, his kingdom, his Kingly rule, the peace he has established with God and every spirirtual blessing that flows from it - see Ephesians 1v3-14.
